SABIN
$$$$$$$
In the final battle, SABIN can be used in place of SETZER. If you do not want
to use JOKER DOOM on KEFKA, and would rather take his health down a chip at
a time, SABIN is the better option. All you would need to do is give SABIN
everything that SETZER has equiped, including Relics, but minus the Esper.
If you do this you wil not be able to use Mute on the 2nd tier of
the final battle.

GAU. EATING XP & RYOSE
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
GAU is what makes this level 6 game possible. GAU eats ALL of the
Sewer Rats XP. He eats MOST of the Mag Roaders XP. He must eat ALL of the
IAF's XP. All this XP is going to raise his levels WAYYYY past level 6.
The reason GAU can eat all of this XP is because when he is on the VELDT,
he doesn't count as part of the team. Since he doesn't count as part of the
team, his level does NOT affect the level of party members as they join
the team. This means you can make the IAF a lot easier on yourself.
Without it affecting your ability to play the final 1/3 of the game with
only level 6 characters.
To make the IAF a win on your first try, you are going to have to forcably
level GAU. You can do IAF WITHOUT forcably leveling GAU but it's probably a
1/75 chance that you make it through on the first try. That is not fun.
At all. There are numerous reasons for leveling GAU. He is making money,
that's another reason. You are playing this on the SNES console. That is the
main reason.
If you want to make it through the Cave In The VELDT in the WOR, on your
first try, you need to bring GAU. Ryose can NOT be escaped from. He has
to be killed. It's probably a 1/35 chance that you make it to the save point,
without fighting Ruose. That is not fun. There is one reason that you need
to bring GAU. You are playing this on the SNES console. That is the reason.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$
EMULATION
$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I am fully aware that even though this walkthrough has been written for play
on the SNES console, many of you will be using an emulator. The main reason
is that a ROM of this game is much easier to come by than a cartrage of
the game. The emulator makes things faster. Having that fast-forward button
is nice. The emulator takes something away from the experiance of the
game though. It also leads to the tempation of using F saves and the rewind
button. These tools remove most all of the challenge from a game.
You will do as you wish, but I ask a favor of you. Think for a second. You
are playing a level 6 game here. You obviously enjoy a challenge. So please
don't use the rewind button. And if you would only use F saves on the
world map and on SAVE POINTS, that would be great!
$$$$$$$$$$$$$
ECONIMIZER
$$$$$$$$$$$$$
The ECONIMIZER is not needed. I highly recomend getting it though. The four
tiers of the final battle without it is ...NOT FUN! If you are playing this
on an emulator and want to make this easy, you can cheat. Here's how.
Find an Aquilla. Use the rewind button every time you steal a Fenix Down.
It makes it way faster than having to find a dozen or two Aquilla.

The creators of this game
My brother Matthew, for editing help.
My friend Matthew, the Pug/Magus Rod idea and numerous other suggestions.
The dude who had my copy of the game before I did.
balnabZ, for making his 6:30 Speed Walkthrough.
Master Zed, for his Slots Walkthrough.
Gamefaqs for publishing this work.
The first time I saw this game being played, I thought it looked stupid. Just a
bunch of menu screens and what fun is that? I was young and foolish. As time
passed, fate would have it that I would play this game. My first play through,
my characters were probably in level 60 or 70. I really enjoyed the game.
A number of years later… I purchased a copy of the game at a local used video
game shop. When I got home and turned on my console, I found something I
thought was crazy. The guy who had previously owned my copy of the game
had a save with EVERYONE in level 99. HOWERVER, the time stamp was
only like 10 hours. It was at that point, that my journey of creating this
walkthrough began.
I was curious. So I asked a buddy of mine where he would recommend I search
for information on this game. He recommended gamefaqs. I went to gamefaqs
to see what kind of information was available on this game. Considering how
old the game was, there was a lot more than I thought there would be.
I saw the 6:30 Speed Walkthrough by balnabZ. I was skeptical… I played the
game using his walkthrough. There were a few things he did that I had never
thought of. JOKER DOOM! This was something I had never even heard of.
128% magic block. This also was something I had never heard of. Avoiding the
Moogle battles and the battles north of Narshe were very well done. The idea of
using 100’s of smoke bomb to get away from battle quickly.
These are all things I integrated into my walkthrough. A big thank you
to balnabZ for his 6:30 Speed Walkthrough and for these ideas.
I don’t remember exactly when I started to work on this walkthrough. But every
time I played this game after the 6:30 Speed Walkthrough by balnabZ, it just
felt like it was too easy. At some point I started trying to avoid gaining
levels. This lead to beating the game at lower and lower levels each time I
played. Eventually, I realized that there were only a few places where I was
obligated to gain XP. That lead to the excruciating pain of trying to crack the
level 8 game. Then it was the level 7 game. Every time I played, I found
more XP that could be shaved off. Level 6 is the lowest I can get it.
I was left with the Sewer Rats, Mag Roaders, and IAF. I must have tried 100
different combinations before I got it right. Over and over, I crunched the
numbers and still couldn’t get it. No matter what I did, Edgar would start the
WOR in level 7 at best. I couldn’t figure it out. The problem was that I
never had Locke in the lead against the Mag Roaders.
One time I did have Locke in the lead. I noticed that I was able to get the
grouping I wanted, but I didn’t realize Locke was the reason. I don’t know
how long it was before I hammered that wrinkle out. It was a long time,
that’s all I know. When I did figure it out, it allowed me to shave that last
little bit of XP off and the level 6 game was doable. Once that was
established, I started working on what would eventually become this
walkthrough
